Double glazing and window glass
The glass is most of your window. We specify it for each opening: for heat, noise, safety and privacy, not one type for the whole house.
Most of a window's area is glass, so the glass choice decides how hot, cold, noisy or safe a room feels. Here's what we offer and when each makes sense. For more detail, read our window glass guide.
Glass types

How to choose, room by room
- Sunny west-facing living room: DGU with a solar-control or Low-E coating.
- Bedroom on a main road: DGU with one acoustic laminated pane. See soundproof windows.
- Big sliding door to the garden: toughened or laminated safety glass, double-glazed if the room is air-conditioned.
- Bathroom: frosted toughened glass.

Questions
Is double glazing worth it in Punjab and Chandigarh?
For air-conditioned rooms and sun-facing walls, yes: it reduces the heat coming in and the load on the AC. It also cuts outside noise. For a small bathroom window it's usually not needed.
What is the difference between toughened and laminated glass?
Toughened glass is much stronger and breaks into small blunt pieces. Laminated glass holds together on its interlayer when broken, so it stays in the frame, which is better for security and overhead glass.
