Aluminium sliding windows

Large glass, slim frames and a window that never swings into the room. The most popular choice for living rooms, bedrooms and balconies across the Tricity.

Patio with full-height glass sliding doors

A sliding window has panels (sashes) that glide sideways past each other on tracks. Nothing opens into the room or out over the balcony, so you can put furniture, curtains and plants right up to it. In aluminium, the frames can stay slim even on wide openings, which means more glass and more light.

What makes a good sliding window

  • Smooth rollers on a proper track, so a large panel still opens with one finger, years later.
  • Brush seals and interlocks that keep out dust, which matters a lot near highways and construction sites.
  • Drainage: slots in the bottom track that let rainwater out instead of into the room.
  • Multi-point locking, so the sash locks at more than one point for security.
  • The right glass: toughened for large panes, and double glazing where you want less heat or noise. See our glass options.

Sliding or casement?

A sliding window only ever opens about half of its width, because one panel parks behind the other. A casement window opens fully and presses against its seals when shut, so it usually keeps out wind, dust and noise a little better. Many homes use both: sliders for wide openings and balconies, casements for kitchens, bathrooms and noisy sides. Our guide to types of aluminium windows goes room by room.

Finishes

Powder-coated in black, grey, white, bronze and most other colours, anodised, or wood-grain. See finishes and colours.

Questions

How much of a sliding window opens?

Usually about half the width on a 2-panel window, because one panel slides behind the other. A 4-panel window can open the middle two panels to the sides. If you need the full opening, choose a casement window or a slide-and-fold door.

Can I add a mosquito mesh to a sliding window?

Yes. The neatest way is a 3-track window, where the mesh slides on its own track. See our mosquito mesh guide for the other options.

Are aluminium sliding windows good for dust and noise?

Good ones are, with proper brush seals, interlocks and double or laminated glass. For a very noisy road, a casement or a lift-and-slide system seals tighter. See soundproof windows.

How much do aluminium sliding windows cost?

It depends on size, system, glass and finish, so we quote per project. Send sizes or photos on WhatsApp for an itemised quote, usually within 48 hours. Our price guide explains what drives the cost.
